A little note from my kitchen to yours
Say hello to my favourite weeknight dessert! Honestly, this delightfully creamy sugar-free whipped cream has become my go-to recipe when I’m craving something sweet. In less than 5 minutes with only 3 ingredients I have a low-carb, keto-friendly treat that feels super decadent and is totally delicious.

Why you’ll love this Keto Whipped Cream
- With zero sugar and 0g net carbs, this whipped cream is sugar-free, keto-friendly, and perfect for anyone watching their blood sugar. But no one will know, because it tastes exactly like the real thing!
- Made just like classic whipped cream, it comes together in 5 minutes or less with just three ingredients: heavy cream, sugar-free sweetener, and vanilla. And can be made with either powdered Swerve Confectioners sweetener or liquid monk fruit drops.
- Perfect for topping holiday desserts and everyday treats from pies and hot chocolate to berries and puddings. This whip is super versatile and customizable. Check out all my tried and tested variations below!

Key Ingredients + Substitutions
- Heavy cream: Cold heavy whipping cream (also called heavy cream or whipping cream) is the only required ingredient for homemade whipped cream. The colder the cream, the better! Cold cream whips faster and creates more volume and stability. If you have time, chill your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 15 minutes prior to mixing. This helps keep the fat in the cream solid and stable.
- Sweetener: Sugar-free sweetener adds a kiss of sweetness. My favourite whipped cream sweetener is Swerve Confectioners; it incorporates nicely and delivers a deliciously smooth, lightly sweetened whip. If you prefer to use natural sweetener, 12 drops of liquid monk fruit delivers the right amount of subtle sweetness. Of course you can also omit the sweetener altogether if you prefer.
- Vanilla: Pure vanilla extract infuses the cream with warm vanilla flavour. You can of course omit the vanilla or substitute it with your favourite flavoured extract.

Sugar-Free Whipped Cream Variations
- Amaretto Whipped Cream: Replace the vanilla extract with almond extract for an alcohol-free Amaretto whip ideal for topping after-dinner coffee.
- Cinnamon Whipped Cream: Add ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon for a cinnamon spice snickerdoodle whip that pairs perfectly with pumpkin pie.
- Maple Whipped Cream: Swap the vanilla for pure maple extract for a delicious maple whipped topping for pancakes, waffles, and french toast.
- Maple Cinnamon Whipped Cream: Use pure maple extract in place of vanilla and add ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon for a sweet cinnamon and maple whipped topping.
- Peppermint Whipped Cream: Cut the vanilla down to ½ teaspoon and add ½ teaspoon pure peppermint extract for a candy cane flavoured whip cream. Perfect for hot cocoa!

How to make Keto Whipped Cream
Whip the cream, sweetener, and vanilla together to form medium-stiff peaks. You can use a hand whisk, electric beaters, or stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. For medium-stiff peaks, it takes about 5 minutes by hand or 2-3 minutes using a stand mixer or electric beaters on medium-high speed. You’ve reached medium-stiff peaks when the whip is thick, soft, and smooth, but stiff enough that it’s pipeable.

Ways to use Keto Whipped Cream
This sugar-free whipped cream is my favourite way to add a little joy and sweetness to everyday desserts, drinks, and holiday treats. Here are a few of my favourite ways to use it:
- Pipe it onto holiday pies, like keto pecan pie or sugar-free pumpkin pie.
- Spoon it over fresh strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries. Most fruits are high in carbs, but with only 3 to 4 grams net carbs per half cup these three berries can be enjoyed in moderation without kicking you out of ketosis.
- Dollop it on bulletproof hot chocolate and sugar-free vanilla lattes. Don’t miss my hack for grab-and-go whipped cream toppers straight from the freezer!
- Fold it into sugar-free pudding or whipped cream cheese for a light, creamy mousse or easy no-bake cheesecake.

Storage Tips
Fresh whipped cream is best served immediately, but will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. If the whip has deflated slightly, just give it a quick whisk to fluff it back up before serving.
Keep it fresh longer! One of my favourite meal-prep hacks is to freeze small dollops of whipped cream on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a silicone muffin tin. Once frozen, transfer them to a zip-top bag and store in the freezer for up to 2 months. They’re perfect for topping hot drinks over the holidays!
