LONDON BASED Katy Mitten, is a freelance blogger and content creator who currently manages Little Winter. The blog is a space for Katy to write down her thoughts, document travels, and just capture everyday life with friends and family. With an ever-expanding Instagram following, cat Runkle is known for stealing the spotlight and popping up in interior posts. As Katy's Instagram disclaimer states, 'if you've come for cat stories, you're in the right place'.

How would you describe your signature style?
I keep my colours very neutral - greys, whites, blacks and then add a lot of greenery! I am very into the scandinavian and rustic styles, with dark browns and sharp whites so I'm already planning my next style when we move to a bigger place (I'm thinking big windows, natural floorboards and vintage pieces).

Where do you find your interiors inspiration?
Pinterest, Instagram and other blogs - If I see something I like, I'll immediately want to start adapting that style into my home. I've also got a thing for warehouse-style homes, and would happily live in one (we've just finished watching Power and I love Tommy Egan's loft).

What makes a house a home for you?
My cat! There's nothing like opening that front door, to see his little face staring up at me to make me feel like I'm home (even if he's basically just wanting me for food). Oh and my plants. I like a plant!

Do you have a favourite home piece?
I have a telephone table which is probably the most pointless piece of furniture I own, but I have such love for it. I always wanted one but online they were so expensive, and I actually have my mum to thank for this one as she found it at a flea market for £15 about six years. We upcycled it and it's been with me ever since! It doesn't have a telephone on it, and it's just by our front door collecting dust (and holding shoes underneath), but I refuse to get rid of it as I imagine it in a beautiful hallway one day.

Sunday – is it the start or the end to your week?
Definitely the end! I'm normally travelling home from some place, so it just adds to the week being over. And it's my favourite night for a takeaway (Mildreds is my top choice!).

How often do you re-style your home?
I currently rent in London, so don't tend to redecorate but I'm always moving the smaller stuff around wherever I can. As a child I would rearrange my bedroom at least four times a year and I don't think that's ever left me. Except now I rearrange my plants and artwork!

What’s your favourite way to unwind?
Weirdly, my favourite way to unwind is by being around my friends and family. I'm not really one to just sit, watch some Netflix or have a long bath, so I definitely feel like I unwind better around people. With a glass of wine in hand!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
'You learn to love when you love yourself' - my dad told me that when I was younger, and it's stuck ever since.

What’s your favourite room in the home?
I have an open plan kitchen and living room and I just love that space, especially when I've got friends over for dinner and we're sitting around the table, with candles lit over the fireplace and the record player on. It's a pretty sociable space, so even when you're cooking you still feel involved.

Describe your perfect Sunday.
Exploring! We travel a lot, whether it's to some place new or seeing friends and family up and down the country, so we're always out in the fresh air doing something fun. But if we've got a rare weekend at home, we'll start with brunch, then head out for the afternoon somewhere like Columbia Road Flower Market, Primrose Hill or Little Venice and then finish up in our local pub with a bottle of wine and their delicious stonebaked pizzas!
